The Use of Language:
The language you use and things you post on the internet represent you as a person. It effect how others perceive you to act and speak, as well as your personality and appearance. When writing on the web you should always use open, inclusive and non-discrimantive language, as not to unintentionally offend someone. Responsibility and Online Presence:
Dictionary.com defines responsibility as "the state or fact of being responsible, answerable, or accountable for something within one's power, control, or management". This transfers not only into your real life but also you online life. A "web presence is the collective existence online of a company or individual" (Compukal.com). Digital Footprint:
"A digital footprint is the data that is left behind by users on digital services. There are two main classifications for digital footprints: passive and active. A passive digital footprint is created when data is collected without the owner knowing, whereas active digital footprints are created when personal data is released deliberately by a user for the purpose of sharing information about oneself by means of websites or social media" (Wikipedia, 2015). |
Flaming:
According to TechTerms.com, flaming is the act of posting or sending offensive messages over the Internet. These messages, called "flames," may be posted within online discussion forums or newsgroups, or sent via e-mail or instant messaging programs.Flaming often results in the trading of insults between two or more people and takes the focus off the original discussion. It can be very hurtful when something is posted innocently and others comment aggressive and offensively. STOP AND THINK about what you are posting and if it could be seen as aggressive or could potentially insult someone else. This may save you in the long run! |
