It is time to do the first task and I have no idea what to do, was my first thought this week. I have never created a website or written a blog before, hey I have never even written a journal before. But after searching through the Murdoch LMS site resources and watching the lectures I feel much more confident and that I might actually be able to do this. First thing I did was go into the LMS online section for this unit, Living and Learning with Technology; it was there that I found the link to the task one page. After reviewing the Task 1 details I went through and watched all the videos within the Week two section of the lecture schedule. I found the ‘How to get started on Task 1’ video very useful and helpful in assisting me in further understanding how to begin creating my website and what sort of content needed to be in it. I then read some of the Teachers Toolbox web creation tools page and selected the Weebly website creator to use. I also chose this one to use because I discussed with a classmate about which site they had begun using and it seemed straightforward and simple to understand. Once I began, I found it fairly easy and quite enjoyable to create the website. It allowed me to get creative and design the website how I wanted it to look, rather than follow strict guidelines and have the same design as everybody else. I was also worried about writing the blog again as I didn’t think that I had or would be able accurately reflect how I felt and how I believed I was going with the unit. However, once I started writing this blog the words just kept coming. Instead of creating a whole other blog page I found that the Weebly page had a setting to insert a blog into your website. I felt that this was a better option to do as it keeps it all together and in the same sort of style.
Altogether, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of making my own website and although I am nervous about how this blog will sound I hope that I can one day do it again. :)

Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the lectures each week in person as it clashes with one of my other unit’s workshops. Although I do believe that this is a somewhat disadvantage to me, I am determined to keep up with readings, watch the recordings of the lectures and attend the workshops every week. So far I have gone through unit guide, the lecture slides and listened to the week one lecture. At first I was very nervous about doing this unit as I did not think I was “technological” enough to understand what is going on. However, after hearing stories from my mentors and peers, and watching the first lecture I am reassured that if I work hard I will be fine, and I now believe that I might actually be able to do this. I still don’t really understand this blogging thing but hopefully with practice I will get better. I am looking forward to what is to come in this unit and furthering my skills and knowledge of technology, as well as how it is used throughout university. :)
